What is this site?

“Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive”. The English poet, William Wordsworth, wrote those words in an autobiographical poem. He never gave that poem a name because he never officially published it. After he died in 1850 his widow had the work published and titled it, The Prelude, because it was intended to be the first part of a larger work that was never finished. Ole’ Will (probably what his friends called him) was at one point England’s poet laureate and likely very proud of many of his works, but he died having no idea that The Prelude, the one he never got around to publishing, would become his most famous work. If his ghost haunts those who read it I guess we’ll know why…

That story has no point and nothing to do with my website, but I like the phrase. Today we’d just say YOLO but whatever poet coined that phrase likely won’t get full credit ever (and I’m not giving credit to Drake who stole it and made it famous). The ironic thing about YOLO is that the people who shout it usually do it to justify something that would put that “You Only Live Once” mantra to the test….cuz if they’re right and you do only live once, they may have completely just burned through that one life trying to do a gainer over a rock cliff…

So what is this site? I don’t really know and just like the stories above, it doesn’t really seem to have a point. I started writing weekly trivia quizzes for the people I worked with back in 2011 and haven’t stopped so I’ve written a fair bit of them. To date, they’ve always only been accessible to the people I work with. This year, as many of my friends, and loyal trivia takers, have left the company I work for I decided to build a site that could be accessed by anyone and let others who may enjoy trivia take the weekly quizzes.

When I write a quiz I hope you’ll just have a good time and each question will do one of two things for you. Either make you say, “I totally know this one” (even if you find out you were wrong later) or say “I SHOULD know this one.” I don’t want anyone to feel bad about not knowing this stuff, that’s not the point. It’s just to have a good time each week measuring how much pointless garbage you have floating around your brain and maybe even insert some new pointless garbage.

So that’s it. No point. No real purpose. It’s just meant to be fun. YOLO. Bliss it is in this dawn to be alive. Happy trivia-ing.
